9/22/2020 Warm River Idaho
Took my old camper and bike up to the Warm River Campground in Southeastern Idaho to ride the Old Rail Trail on my bike. I did this last year at the same time in September and enjoyed it so much that I did it again this year! The Rail Trail starts right there in the campground. This trail was built on the old rail road About 3.5 miles up the trail you run into an old collapsed railroad tunnel that's worth the ride to see. Then about 7 miles up the trail (another 3.5 miles) you run into a junction with a dirt road; take the right hand fork (heading east) and ride about another 1.5 miles to the Warm River Spring which flows at 200 cfs making the beginning of the Warm River. On the way down to the spring I ran into a black bear on the road and we both came to a stop about 100 feet apart and looked at each other; a little tense for a moment but I had my bear spray handy and ready. I began to yell at the bear and he headed into the brush, I latter got a photo of him.
Couldn't have a better adventure!
