Rode my bike into Harriman State Park Wednesday evening in hopes of hearing and seeing Elk and other wildlife. In Harriman you can only hike, bike or ride horse into the park. I had to ride farther into the park than I expected to hear elk bugling and actually rode clear out the north end of the park before I saw any elk! I believe this was due to the high number of people on horses that tend to drive the elk deeper into the mountains. The elk here are not as accustom to people as the elk in Yellowstone therefore they tend to react in a more normal way to people by shying away.
