Bikepacking with Madison and David - The Bitterroot 300, August 6th thru the 9th, 2020

Bikepacking the Bitterroot 300 (185 miles), almost bit off more than I could chew. We started on August 6th at the Bull Run trail head on the Trail of the Coeur D' Alenes and rode 50 + miles and ended up somewhere on the Northern Pacific Trail just before Lookout Pass to camp for the night. There was a little confusion in finding the Northern Pacific Trail just outside (or in) Mullan. We did eat lunch in the Historic town of Wallace.

On day 2 we went up and over Lookout Pass where we bought tickets for the Route of the Hiawatha Trail and then continued down the Hiawatha to the Old Milwauke Trail.  We finally found a place to camp back out at the Big Creek campground; another 50+ mile day!

On the 3rd day we traveled from Big Creek Campground to Chatcolet Campground. Mostly following the Old Milwauke Trail to St. Maries (where I enjoyed a giant burger and milkshake) and then continued on the paved road to the Trail of the Coelr D' Alenes at Heyburn State Park. Another 50+ mile day!

On day 4 we took off from Chatcolet and made it back to Bull Run on the Trail of the Coeur D' Alenes, 30+ miles. It was a beautiful 4 days and a very rewarding bikepacking trip that I was thankful to have completed. A memory of a life time!
